Avatar: The Last Airbender (known in some territories as Avatar: The Legend of Aang) is a 2005 Animated Series from Nickelodeon created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Brian Konietzko. It focuses on the efforts of Aang, the last of a tribe of wind-controlling nomads, to stop an army of. Avatar: The Last Airbender takes place in a world where the people can bend the four elements: Water, earth, fire and air. The world is also divided into four nations based on the corresponding elements: Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads.

Whereas the original Avatar series drew on ancient Eastern influences, The Legend of Korra builds on that same aesthetic utilizing a more Western palette during the 1920's Industrial Revolution.
Set 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, this spin-off series introduces Korra, the next Avatar after Aang. Unlike her predecessor, however, Korra has already mastered the elements of water, earth and fire by the start of the series. All that remains is airbending, which she'll have to learn from Aang's son Tenzin in Republic City, the capital of the Four Nations.
